Interior curtain mounting O'Day 28

It's that time of year again, and my wife's thoughts have turned to 'how are we going to improve the boat's interior next?'

On the hit list after the cushion covers are the curtains in the main cabin. I do not know if this is the factory setup or aftermarket. The curtains are strung on what appears to be small (3/16 inch) steel coils coated in vinyl, which is screwed to the cabin top. (see photo)

This is not only ugly but hard to open and close. Is this the original setup? Who's come up with something better, and what is it?

Your curtains look like mine so they must be OEM. Mine have what look like little miniature sail slugs that slide in the grooves in the plastic tracks. Not sure about your comment about the steel coils coated in vinyl? Maybe a close up picture of that would help to visualize it.

Mine are similar to Jibe's, but the tracks are aluminum. I removed the slugs from the lower track and lubed the upper with silicone spray. The curtain slides freely and you can move it quickly for a peek.

What did you do to yourself? You're not alone, I was running my finger along a piece of plywood the other day to see if I sanded it enough and put a large sliver completely through my finger. I had to use pliers to yank it the rest of the way through. I was sure I'd be in the hospital with an infection but alcohol and Neosporin seemed to do the trick. I wonder if Obamacare covers that kind of thing?

Thanks for the compliments on the interior...I don't know what I have, but it's nothing like SailingCal's. If you look at the right hand photo you can kind of see it there, it's almost like a clothes-line. I'll try to get some better photos when I'm next out there.
