Oday 27
I have an O'Day 27, 1976, and fabric matting on interior bulkheads has seen better days. I am pretty sure any water coming in causing mold, mildew has been resolved. I see matting, with a pad beneath with adhesive beneath padding. I would like to take it down to the fiberglass and with just paint or put new material on top.

1. To remove adhesive, is a solvent ok for removal, or do I need to sand/grind.

2. If just go with painting bulkheads, what is best type.

3. Any suggestions for new covering material. Someone has suggested cork.

Thanks.

Are you refering to the hull? If so see 'bigger boats' "And so it begins" pages 1, 20 and 21. Been there; done that; same boat, 76 Oday 27.

No need to get all the glue off. Just be sure that the loose flakey stuff is off. It is very easy to apply poach paint fromowes. And is hard as a Rick. I painted my head inner hull with it. Also very easy to apply fabric hull liner. New stuff has no backing ans d is stretchy and forgiving. It should be cut with a hot knife though. You need the items below. Also see my photo album on the oday 26 rebuild.

The can of spray is the adhesive for the cabin liner carpet. Great stuff. Remember your boat interior will sweat at times. A fabric liner really is much much nicer, quieter, and classy
