went out yesterday for the first sail of the season. was a perfect day/night, sunny, warm, good breeze.
first small mishap ran aground. in mud so with a small amount of motoring to put us on a beam reach easily got out when we heeled. just surprised that we actually found a shallow spot in the lower hudson.
had a great sail after that, beautiful night with the manhattan skyline right in front of us. was getting late and the wind was letting up so decided to motor back to the mooring. unfortunately the motor didn't want to cooperate and quit on us. inspired by the tugs pushing the barges got in the dinghy and pushed all the way back to the mooring without any problems. just lucky wasn't single handed as usual or my night would have turned out much different.
motor quit on me last week but had assumed was air in the line; after it quit started back up easily and motored for several hours. this time however could not get it to turn over and the lights were flickering. so sounds like it's actually alternator/battery issue??
