The Long Beach, CA marina is having an auction of impounded boats this weekend. (For locals with interest, it is at Alamitos Bay at the Harbor Patrol docks the end of Marina Drive at 8:00 AM Saturday. See the City of Long Beach website for details.)
There are some good boats going through. These four are impounds and don't appear bad. I would guess some kind of addiction or impairment is at the heart of some of these, but there is also death and other situations. Still, it's surprising to see people abandon these.
(I assume these are going through the auction but there is no guarantee they do.) Here are some photos of a 32 Erickson, a 34 Columbia, a 34 or 31 Searay and a 34 California trawler. They didn't look bad at all. Of course, the most expensive boat you might get is the one least expensive... :cussing:
