Does anyone know if there is a website or service that exists for people like me who want to share a chartered boat in the BVI? My wife and I want to sail, but don't want to rent a boat for just ourselves. Perhaps my best bet might be to contact many of the charter companies in Tortola and ask about sharing with other folks who might be looking to add members to their charter. Any thoughts or experiences would be much appreciated.

BVI

You should go to www.traveltalkonline.com click on the forums then click BVI ask if anybody is going down there when you are going.. I got a lot of information the time I went last year. In October they are having a regatta for the world airline's race, I'm sure the Moorings or Sunsail will have boats that need crewing... Hope this helps, Maybe I'll see ya there. Where are you located ?

Tell us where you are located, that will help to get a good answer. If you happen to be on or near Long Island, New York, check out www.thewaterfrontcenter.org , and contact them. They have a BVI trip running every January.

Shared Charters

Pres, The one time I did what you want to do, I just put 3X5 cards on the bullentin boards around where I worked and got a crew in no time. One other thing you might consider is the two of you chartering a small boat. Once two of us chartered a Pearson 303 out of St Thomas and had a great time. Also, don't be afraid to go off season. You can save a lot of money and it's not as crowded. Good luck. The BVI are one of my favorite places.
