My wife and I sold our '97 376 this spring and are looking to get into something smaller and a bit more exciting for our lake sailing and racing. I'd love to get feed back from some people on the Hunter 22. There doesn't seem to be much on line about it and very few used ones for sale. Possibly it hasn't sold very well. Also what other options at that length and price range might be interesting. Thanks to all!

For a fast/fun boat, consider the Capri 22. It is now part of the Catalina line. Its been around for many years and is still in production.

A side-by-side with the Catalina 22 will show why it is fast and fun.

The newer Hunter 22's are more of a sport boat. The older ones are just shorter versions of what you had. Older = 1980-85

Now if I lived on a lake and wanted to have fun racing and lake sailing ( like I don't LOL ) then I'd look around at the clubs and see what fleets are there. Then I'd buy one of those boats. Much more fun than PHRF IMO.. We have Thistles, Highlanders, Flying Scots, ( you'd think Sandy Douglass lived here LOL ) Scows, San Juan 21's 420's and a hand full of Lasers. Other places have other boats.. but this is where you will have your most fun, IMO.

look for a used 216 - fun boat. The 22 is essentially the same but in fiberglass instead of acp. Maybe more durable but it's 1000 lbs heavier and only have slightly larger sails. requires a larger tow, too.
