My haulout date for a bottom job fast approaches and I see an opportunity to have my topsides painted (sprayed) by the yard painter:dance:. Problem: The only paint I can find is some Interlux Interdeck (2 qts) and 1 qt of a smoothing agent Interlux 333 . Assuming it is compatible with what's on there now, are there any reasons NOT to use the Interdeck paint on the topsides instead of what is currently unatainable? The deck is in no need of paint and topsides paint is extremely hard to come by here. The only other option is a product called Shertruck by sherwoods (don't laugh yet...) which is a very strong 3 part paint used by the huge local ferries with very good result... no apples to apples...huge metal ships as opposed to our Seanorita, a 1981 Hunter 33. I guess there are trade-offs to staying in beautiful remote spots...
Yes, the topsides are getting ratty from the flaking of prior cheap paint used by P.O. 7 yrs ago, so I will have her painted, one way or the other.
Many thanks for any advice, opinions, suggestions, etc.

No, don't paint topsides with Interdeck. It has a non-skid additive and is to be painted on non-skid surfaces of the deck only. You don't want your topsides to feel like sandpaper, do you?

Thanks Scott. That is what I was hoping was not the case! I guess I will pass on the interdeck paint offered to us by our well meaning anchorage neighbors. I'm guessing we will end up with the local sherwin williams product.
Sometimes we prefer to not believe the obvious, even if for a short while!
thanks again

3 part paint

I sure hope so!
I guess due to its scarcity, the allure of a paint actually made for a boat was certainly intoxicating. Just gonna have to get over the weirdness of painting a boat with truck paint, but if it turns out nice, shouldn't be that hard to get over....
thx
Bob
