Do Google Maps work on Android? This is just Google Maps with some additional Javascript.

the web based version works, but you can only pan and zoom, no clicking (there is no mouse), so the map loads and I can zoom into where I am, but no weather data gets loaded. There is a native app version of google maps for android devices developers can build on similar to what you are doing now, it may even give you more capabilities than in the pc based web version (I know you can integrate the device's GPS location into the map on the mobile version). I beleive there is something similar with google maps for iphones as well.

Two new additions today:

1) I have included current projections from NOAA's Ocean Prediction Center. These are in the NOAA Charts pull-down menu section. The example here shows the Gulf Stream off of Florida.

Next, I've added user definable markers. Simply RIGHT-CLICK on the map and a box will appear asking you to name the location. You can create as many markers as you want. To delete them, right click on the marker.

These are stored as cookies in your browser, so they won't appear on another computer or a different browser on the same computer. If you delete your cookies, they'll disappear.

Today's additions:

(1) I've now added the National Weather Service text forecasts to the map. This means that you can click anywhere in the US and get either the land, on-shore, or off-shore forecast for that area.

(2) All of the NOAA charts are now properly oriented. You no longer have to turn your head sideways to read some of the charts. Why NOAA can't do this is beyond me...

Today's additions to the interactive weather map.

(1) I added a bunch of data from the Australian Weather Bureau. These are animated 72 hour charts. Very nice. However I'm worried that the directory structure of the files seems to change, so I'm not sure that I can determine the correct file names. Hopefully I can as they've got a lot of great content for that portion of the world.

(2) I have replaced my simple next/previous button image viewer for animated sequences with a much nicer one that I paid a whole $10 for. I decided that I had better things to do with my time than re-invent the wheel and it was well worth it for the price.

Geoff - Anyway you could add the images as a opaque overlay onto the google maps, instead of opening them in a new window?

If I produced the images, I probably could, but since I'm just re-displaying the information created by others, no I can't (or at least I don't think that I can...).

looks like you can as long as it's not a copyright violation (which technically you still could, but shouldn't do)

I wasn't even looking at copyright issues. It's a matter of geo-coding the information so that it would overlay the GoogleMaps properly. That's way more work than I want to get in to. I believe that GoogleMaps uses a cylindrical projection whereas the weather maps use different projections. Right now I'm working on German maps which are way up north and just figuring out the lat/long boundaries between the two projections is a challenge.

Europe! We've got European weather as of today! I've included a variety of forecasts from the German Meteorological Service. This includes the North Sea, Baltic, Mediterranean and Atlantic. Note that the UK Met Office also covers part of this area.

Today's additions to the Interactive Weather Map: Added feeds for SE Asia as well as from Fiji and Tahiti in the South Pacific. I'm also working on expanding the Australian Met Office coverage, as they generate weather for far more than just Australia.

NOAA/NWS doesn't provide forecasts outside of the US. Click on Marine Forecast if you want a wind/wave/swell, etc for that area.

The latest addition to the Interactive Weather Map (http://www.geoffschultz.org/weather_map.php) is a tremendous expansion of weather charts from the Australian Met Bureau covering Pacific and Indian Ocean. The types of information available has also been reorganized to make it more clear what areas are covered (US only and World Wide).

I've just completed a major rewrite of the Interactive Forecast Map at http://www.geoffschultz.org/weather_map.php . The web site can now display many of the charts, radar images, satellite photos, etc within a GoogleMaps pop-up window. You can still display the information in separate browser tabs if you want to be able to quickly compare charts. I think that most people will really like this new interface.

I've also highlighted the selected chart as you move the cursor over it. This is quite helpful when there are multiple charts in 1 area and it's not easy to determine which chart will be selected.

As this was a major rewrite and your browser is now doing a lot more work, there's a great chance that things will break depending upon the browser that you use, the version of the browser and which operating system you're using. I've checked it out on the majority of browsers on a Windows 7 system and an iPad, but there are lots of other combinations that I haven't checked. As a result I'd really like to get feedback from people as to how they like it and if they have problems.
