OK, I just got a new Loos PT-2 tension gauge to properly tension all shrouds and backstays, but have no info on specific tension to use with the gauge. Not even Catalina has that info on file! Can anyone out there provide the specific info I need? Thanks!

loos tension

I have a C30TR 1988 the loos works on 1o% of breaking strenth and the guys at loos feel that a boat in good shape can handle this much tension.I have 1/4" head stay and 3/16 lower stays.I center my mast hand tight then i bring tension up to 850lb This is max for 1/4" wire.then hand tight the lower stays keeping the mast straight. Then adjust the lower stays in a X frount port side rear stb side equal # of turns untill you reach 500 or so lbs then equal frount tension to around 525lbs rear tension should be around 475 +_ then check head stay tension, it should be down from 850 to around 825.tighten back stay untill it feel snug .I cant use the loos on the backstay or frount stay becouse i have RF head sail.I worked up my max tension over 5 years and i no how the rig feels becouse i started with low # and worked my way up to max.you should use the gage that came in the loos to size up the stays .then look in the booklet that came with the loos and there is a list of wire sizes3/16 1/4 ect that tells you the max for the wire size then start about 50lb lighter then the wire max and adjust the rig and sail it. your stays on the leward side should not flop around in 15kt wind.If your at a dock you can use the hailyard to pull the boat over to 20o and check shrouds go slow all boats are not the same they all sail diffrent. To much back stay and you can throw off your prop shaft alinement.John
