Intake Water spitting back

I have intake water spitting back at me through the pump handle hole of a twice-rebuilt old Groco HC manual head. Last rebuild was 2 seasons ago. Spit-back is getting worse, but otherwise it works fine. Is this a bad o-ring on the piston or some bad valve in the piston tube head? I remember you recommending eventual replacement with Cricket head (though I still have 1 Groco rebuild kit left) but not sure it will fit in my very confined space.Thanks,RD

Typical Groco toilet...

I've yet to see one that didn't "spit" unless the pump shaft seal was replaced annually.But an HC??? That's an OLD toilet! The HE was the model in between it and the current HF. Since you have another rebuild kit, you might as well use it...but I'd replace the head when it starts to spit again
