I am looking into a purchase of a 2002 Catalina 310. For use on the Mississippi Gulf Coast area.

I am hoping that some of you other 310 owners can give me a ball park number on what you pay for insurance. I did the on-line quote from BoatUS and it was over $2K per year.

My current BoatUS insurance on a 26' boat in the Chesapeake...including a trailer...is only $300 per year.

Never had a claim before.

Thanks,
Jim

I must have done something wrong using the BoatUS on-line quote link. I will call them and ask a person.

Unless the "hurricane premium" is really high.

Thanks,
Jim

Yeah, the hurricane premium is definitely high. I berthed my 310 for 5 years on the Florida Gulf Coast, and payed $1800 plus a year with Boat US. The boat is now in Massachusetts, and I pay $900 a year with Boat US, essentially the same policy. My brother is an insurance adjuster, and he compared my policy with some other companies, and he said that Boat US is still worth it. There are cheaper policies out there, but they don't offer the same coverage that Boat US does.

Hi Jim,

$450 a year in Dana Point, CA. for a 2002 310. Add $25 for a small Dinghy and 2.5 HP Outboard.

Good Luck with your move to the 310.

John
