I am looking for an insurance company that will write on a boat that is live aboard in Florida. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am a live aboard in Apollo Beach near Tampa. I am also a new boat owner/sailor. I was told to keep my mouth shut about living aboard. I'm with Progressive thru Casey Insurance out of Ft. Lauderdale. Found their ad on Yachtworld.

I use seaworthy, from gieco. live aboard is no a question, the pay when there is damage.

As Rivercruiser observed, no need for us to tell a soul. If you do a query in Google on any part of any post online, you will see that all of these posts, to our dismay, are all publicly available for the world to see online. I did a quick Google query on "I am a live aboard in Apollo Beach near Tampa". Your post was the first one on the results. Now, of course, this post will also show up, probably as the second result...

But, we won't tell...

I sail out of Mad Beach just north of Treasure Island.
I had Boat US for a number of years, then got a great quote from Progressive & switched.

The first year's premium almost doubled the second year. I dropped them like a rock & went back to Boat US. One thing to look for is their response time & handling for claims. Not all insurance companies are created equal.

With Boat US, if having no claims, they discount your co-pay. This year I have no out of pocket for a next claim if it should happen. I would check out the web for complaints on companies you are looking at. This would be a good indicator.

fwiw --- when I insured our Oday 28, Boat US insisted on an up to date survey -
which we did not have,, Progressive DID NOT --- agreed upon replacement values were the same, and Progressive was less premium as well,,,
