I am sailing my boat to Bermuda this year and my insurance only covers 100 miles offshore, and does not offer a rider for my trip. Anyone have any suggestions? Need the coverage for about a month.

I have Markel, unlimited offshore but need the rider when entering another countries waters. I did NC to Bermuda in 2012 and the rider cost me $210.00. they were specific about when it covered me but you can work with your agent on that. Better get going because you will have to have the insurance at least 30 days prior to leaving, that goes for any company. Good luck on the trip, it is a fun offshore passage and Bermuda is great. Stock all your food for the full round trip as food there is expensive and not fresh. When shopping tell them you are on a yacht and you may get a discount.

Shop around for another insurance company. We have never had difficulty in getting specific coverage endorsements for overseas trips from Boat US. I don't think insurers would offer those at reasonable rates to non-customers. Review your current policy and see what other limitations it may have and compare the product to others for value.
