Insurance assistance needed

Good morning,

I need a little help if possible. We are switching our insurance from GEICO to State Farm and the underwriters need verification of a few things that were found in our survey that were corrected. The problem is that we just left the boat in New Bern NC and are in Indiana for a couple of weeks and they need responses in 10 days. So I was wondering if anyone could send me a picture of two of a couple of things. The rest I have pics or receipts to back up the fixes.

Anyone have the large 8D fiberglass battery boxes? Could you send me a picture of those? During the survey it was found the lids were loose and not secured down. The surveyor stated the lids need straps however, the lids have holes around the outside for bolts. I installed 1/4" bolts with wing nuts all around to secure them and just don't have pics.

Anyone have a picture of the port side round deck "chainplate"? This was required be resealed and I don't have any updated pictures.

Boat was not equipped with a bilge high water alarm. I corrected this as soon as we got the boat in FL last year. Replaced the bilge pump, the switch, the plumbing and installed a Ultra Safety 12V Ultmt Sr Pump Switch with an audible alarm, but once again don't have any pics.

That's it. The boat was in really good shape and other than a few other nit picky things. If I was at the boat this would be easy. I appreciate any help.

Are you looking for these pictures of your completed boat work, as required by the underwriter, or generic ones showing compliant examples of others’ boats? i can provide the latter, however, if this is to pretend it’s your boat, ……

I am not trying to do anything shady. For the battery box, I just need to show the type of battery boxes they are and that you bolt the tops down not strap them down.
For the "chainplate" on the deck, I am just trying to show them what it looks like. I also have to supply them with the reciept of the sealant I used.
For the high water alarm, a pic is probably not necessary. I have the receipts but I thought if someone had one, it might be helpful.

According to my agent this is all a formality to appease the underwriters. They also want to see a picture of a slip knot holding the aft ladder in place so that it can be deployed from the water. During the inspection the surveyor was unable to get the Raymarine wind speed or the tank tender to work so he wrote those up as well. No idea how those are insurance concerns, but I have to show those were repaired even though both worked when I took possession of the boat.

I just don't have any pics of any of these things and the boat is 700 miles away for the next 2 weeks. If I can can't find anything here, I will ask one of the dock hands at the marina to go to the boat and take the pics, then tip them something when we get back. So yes, just looking for generic pics if that's possible. If not I will go to plan B.

Thanks for the help.

If the boat isn't in use and you have a half decent broker, I don't see why you couldn't get an extension? Most underwriters will issue a policy with certain items to be rectified within 30-60 days.... never heard of 10 days to remediate unless it's a critical structural issue... ?

Alternatively, could you get your marina manager to swing by and take the pictures you need to show that critical items from the survey were rectified?

I can probably get extra time to correct anything, but it has all been corrected. I have 10 days to reply back. Obviously none of the items I listed are "critical structural issues"....

And I already stated that plan B was to have a dock hand go to the boat and take pictures and tip them but there are things that may be difficult to communicate with someone.

Its no big deal. Just thought someone could at a minimum just take a picture of a couple of things so I can use them to explain to the insurance. I have been forthright and honest about what I am doing. None of these survey findings are significant and the boat is in great shape. I just got back from taking her round trip over 2500 miles to the Bahamas and back to NC. I am just changing insurance companies. Not sure why taking pictures of the fiberglass battery boxes or the port side chain plates is an issue.

Provide images of the items you replaced from the company's web page and the receipts showing you purchased them to the insurance company with an explanation that you are currently away from the boat and will forward pictures when you return to the boat.

Showing a picture of something from someone else's boat might be interpreted as an attempt to to defraud the insurance company and jeopardize your coverage.

Interesting, I didn't realize that State Farm insured anything larger than approximately 28 feet. Does the policy compare to "yacht policies" with an agreed value?

Jim,
What year is your 420? I have a 05 and will be there this weekend. I can take pictures of battery boxes, chin plates, high water pump if you still need some. As previously stated, these will be pics of MY boat and not the repairs you have done.
