I have acquired some old Telcor gauges with NMEA input jacks. Will any NMEA equipped Anemometer work with them? These are such nice looking gauges and would look great on Oh Joy but if they can't read the data, what good are they. I detest the square digital units on a classic boat and nobody makes a classic round gauge anymore.

Perhaps but not necessarily. There are about a half dozen NEMA type transmission and are usually selectable from a list on the data transmitter. I don't have any experience with Anemometers but have interfaced radar/GPS/ Autopilot of different manufacturers without any problems. It would probably be best if you could access the instruction manuals for the equipment you're considering.

If I understand your question, you are asking if you can connect the Telcor gauge, a wind indicator, to an existing wind vane sender unit that's at the top of the mast already? For virtually all wind systems that output NMEA, the connection between the vane and the head is not NMEA, only the output from the head is. The interface between the vane and head is likely a synchro interface for direction, and either a pulse or voltage proportional to the speed. The head (indicator) resolves these to direction and speed, and drives the display as well as producing NMEA outputs for direction and speed.
