I have had to replace my instrument covers several times due to deterioration from the sun. You'd think they would make those things better to stand up to the sun. Any Idea how to make them last longer?

cover protection

I keep my instrument covers covered with canvass. My instrument covers are as good as new and they show no sign of U V damage.

Sunbrella..

..canvas cover does it. I had it on all my 4 white Autohelm instrument cover in the cockpit console , and no problem 5 years later.

White plastic Instruemtn Covers

These can be brought back white by SEA GLOW and an hour or two of sunlight. The harder type covers are best. The vinyl ones sweat plasticizer (gum) just like fenders and vents. Seal with SIlkenseal. However, if the vinyl covers are really bad they will go pink/brown when kept from sunlight for more than a few days. Obviously the sunbrella covers used in the first place is the real way to go. I have photos of some old instrument covers we used and will try to post them Jim W
