Installing Turbo fans in the cabin

We are thinking about installing turbo fans in the main cabin - say, one in galley, one in the forward vee berth, two in the salon and two in the aft cabin. Has anyone done this? Are there any secrets to installing them? What do you recommend? Also, we get tired of turning off the reading lights in the aft cabin at night - we have to turn around, get on our knees and stretch to reach switches ... any suggestions? Has anyone installed any kind of alternate switches? Thank you !!

Hella Turbo Fans

Hi Jim - We installed a Hella Turbo fan in the main salon on our C36 just above the propane Force 10 heater. They use very little electricity and have a convenient swivel. However, they are pricey compared to other fans, and I wish it had a rheostat to control fan speed (they are a little loud). I simply wired it into the closest circuit - in this case, the 12V plug outlet nearby. Best of luck, Trevor

Fans in cabin

We mounted ours in the aft cabin on the wood strip that also holds the lights, and wired them into the light connections. The fan wiring tucks very nicely behind the wood strip. Now we have to get on our knees and stretch for both the fans and the lights!
