My friend is a marine mechanic and says they have installed thruhulls below the waterline with the boat in the water. He says the 5200 will set fine under water and two people can do it with one under the boat with scuba and the thruhull ready to go and the other inside to drill the hole. Has anyone ever heard of this. I understand that 5200 will cure faster with water contact but I have not heard of using it under water. Kevin

Why a thruhull?

Can you not use a current source of water? I T'd off my engine thruhull(H37C) since I never run the A/C and the engine at the same time. Plus my unit is installed aft so the water source is close by. Others have used the head water intake, usually with some type of check valve. Off my engine seacock I have an elbow and then a 'T' ball-valve. On top of the valve I have markings, 'E' and 'AC', although it is fairly obvious which way to move the handle. I keep the engine key on the handle as a reminder.

thru-hull

Yeah, I've heard of it being done. The SCUBA guy holds a plunger in the spot where the drill goes thru and hopes he doesn't miss. Kind of risky, if you ask me.
