Is there any possible way to run a new ST-60 Wind wire lead through the mast without pulling the mast on a 1983 H31? Has anyone out there ever been able to do this and if so, how did you accomplish? Greg W. De Pere, WI.

Greg: I think it may be nearly impossible on the early models. Sometime after 83 (and I do not know when) they added an inspection plate to the lower portion of the mast. If you have a wind instrument you could tie the old line to the new one and possibly pull it through. Otherwise you would be better off lifting the mast and doing it properly. You will want to have connectors so you can remove the mast without pulling all the wires out too. It is also a good time to check the caulking around the mast step and the tube that goes through the deck.
