How do you install new handle on Garhauer tri-rope clutch? There is a rod with a flat ring attached to rod on both ends that threads through each handle. This ring does not appear to fold out. Is there a special tool? Joan

I was going to replace the handles on my clutches too. When I looked at the price of parts and the new ones have double springs and a 10 yr warranty.
I have a triple clutch from Garhauer. Each handle a different color and I wanted to change color positions. I asks Guido and he said just to take out the bolt, move the handles and put the bolt back. He said to play with the bolt tightening until the handle would stay in whatever position I placed it.
Seemed simple but I have not tried it yet.

Did not get the correct handle from Garhauer, but now know how to take off the old handle, thanks to a fellow sailor. Thought I'd pass this info on. There are e-rings on each end of the rod. You need a very small screw driver to turn the e-ring around and it pops off. Be careful you don't lose or better yet get a replacement e-ring to fit a 1/4" rod in case. There are two very small grooves in which to place the screw driver to turn it. Now I have too check if they have any of the old style handles. Joan
