Hi, I own a 1998 Hunter 310 as of late last year, which I believe is fitted with the Edson Pedestal and steering.
I measured the wheel at 32" and would like to replace it with a similar size Lewmar folding wheel. Although I didn't realise their were different shaft types.
Lewmar sell a 1" tapered wheel and also a dual hub version (1" tapered and 1" parallel).
The dual hub obviously a lot more expensive, so I don't really want to spend the extra money if I don't have to.
Have already asked Hunter Marine (don't have records, but think it was not tapered), Lewmar (say it should be parallel shaft and I should buy the dual hub) and Edson (say it should be tapered, but I should take the wheel off and check)
As none of them give me much confidence, nor am I very confident of pulling the wheel off, or knowing what to look for, but will try if have to, I would like to know if anyone has already fitted one to this model and can confirm which shaft type I need?
Or is my only option to go and pull the wheel off? And how difficult is that?
Also, should I stay with the 32" wheel or go one larger? As some recommend larger when changing to a folding wheel.
