Installing Fog Bell on a Hunter 38 - does anyone have any suggestions where and how?

Here's what I did on my H410.....

I mounted the bracket for the bell to the bottom end of a piece of starboard approximately 2" by 4". I then fastened the starboard to the side of the speaker panel in the arch. I used one screw in the top end of the starboard so that it would pivot up alongside the speaker panel out of the way. When needed, pivot it down and install the bell in the bracket. Then it's handy when you need it but can be put away when you don't.

ps: before you ask, the boat is 100 miles away and, since it's my busy season, I won't be pack to her to take a picture until April 15th.

Are you aware that on your size boat a bell is not required by the cg? Also, I've found that lightly striking a winch with a winch handle makes a fine bell. One less thing to bother with.

Yes - Not required but handy.

Yes - Not required but handy. It came with the boat when I bought it - just not installed.

Ship bell

Hi Pat, we have a ship bell on our boat that we normally stow on a bulkhead bracket in the main saloon. In the event that we need it in the cockpit for safety reasons, I rigged the same bracket mount on our binocular holder. WM carries these brackets and it makes moving the bell from one bracket to the other very easy.

Check out my photo in the "Boat Info" tab above, in "Hunter Owner Modifications", in boat model "42", then select "Handy Holder".

On our 380 we attached our bell to a barbeque bracket, the type that clamps onto a rail. When needed, it goes on the taffrail by the "princess seats".
