Installing bilge pump on H23

I continually have water under the floorboards after a rain. One window replaced and caulked, one to go. I want to put a pump in but am unsure where to put it. I know I should fix the leak, but there are just 2 many places for water to enter, and this seems like an easy job so far. Any suggestions? David Mosley

Maybe I've just been lucky

(knock on wood) I would spend the time finding and stopping the leaks. Maybe I've been blessed with an "abnormal" H23 but I have never had water under the floorboards except from wet feet and a cooler that had the drain spout open with a full stach of ice. The only drainage/leakage problem that I've seen on my H23 is with the port storage/seat. I have seen water in there when not careful with washing down the boat. I've read that some have installed forms of weatherstripping around that seat cover to keep water from passing through. Joel

Had leak Problem and solved it (also B. pump idea)

David, Last year, I had some serious water in my H23 (3 inches (over the floorboards)). I found that the biggest leak problem was the cockpit drain hose in the port lazerette (the locker) and the front anchor locker hose. Turns out that there was a hairline crack and Hunter didn't even seal the hose connection to the thruhole! These are the source of most of the hunter problems and they're really a simple repair and $8.00 of hose from WM (20 minute repair) If you still want a bilge pump, I toyed around with just a removable pump that you would just mount when you leave the boat. when you come back, you would disconnect it and store it. This would prevent the boat from serious damage or sinking. Good Luck, /Chuck S/V Windsongs H23
