Installing adjustable genoa cars on a 2007 B40

I have a 2007 B40. I want to convert to adjustable genoa cars, perhaps with a 4 to 1 ratio for the sheet (for the car movement). I am also thinking of having a stopper at the aft end of the genoa rail (or possibly adding a second block to the genoa block near the primary winch and then having some sort of stopper near the added block. I currently have a Lewmar setup. Suggestions as to using Garhauer equipment, or staying with Lewmar? Things that can go wrong (in doing this)? Thanks, Rick

Rick, I have a Hunter, but I did install a Garhauer system. It works wonderfully, and the sheet block is far more friction-free than the Lewmar. They will have you do measurements for a custom fit. I kept my old block in place and just keep it aft since I wanted to be able to have an option to sheet a staysail or drifter. You will really like having the adjustability. Not just for upwind, but also to move the car way back when you are running or broad reaching. BTW, to that end, I added a small line to pull back the car since there isn't enough pressure to force the car back and a bungee line didn't have enough range.

Rick, I have a 2012 B40 and have thought about doing the same thing. Please let me know how it goes once you do the installation.
By the way, have you taken any other measures to boost performance. I'm always looking for ideas, especially to improve light air performance.
