Just purchased this boat. Love everything except... no windlass. I know there are H40 owners out there who have installed windlasses -- Horizons, Maxwells, etc. It's an obvious tricky installation because of the quirky design of the well and chain feed requirements. I know there have been some suggestions about using an Anchorman 1000 but this is as far as I know, a vertical windlass and the situation seems to require a horizontal. Can anyone out there help with suggestions, model numbers, installation experience? Pics would be a great help. Thanks! Bob

Windlass for H40

The prior owner of my 86 H40 had a Simpson Lawrence Anchorman 700 G Windlass w/ rocker installed just aft of the anchor/rode locker. Up/down switches mounted to starboard. In the fwd cabin there is a small box (about 8" deep, 12" wide and 18" front to back). Also a switch for a small wash down pump on this box. Work was performed by Tidewater Yacht Service in Baltimore. Works great to retrieve my all chain rode.
