Installing a television in the 30...

I have the u-shaped dinette arrangement that allows the port bulkhead to be void of the folding dining table. For me this is the best place to mount a 24 inch flat screen television with built in DVD player. The problem is where to hook up the AC power?

I thought of running the AC powerline through the lower bulkhead and pig tail it to the receptacle in the head or run it under and up into the locker on the starboard side to the receptacle on the bureau or v-berth area.

Has anyone mounted a television on the bulkhead and if so where did you run your AC power line? Suggestions? Warnings? Advise?

Why AC? They make dozens of 12v DC models.

We have a 110 volt powered LED TV & have the setup identical to what you intend to do. There are a lot more 110 volt choices out there & there usually a lot cheaper then a good 12 volt model. We have ours mounted on the port side main bulkhead. We didn't want to drill into the bulkhead for the wiring, where a junction box would be visibly from the head side. We plug our TV with the built in DVD player (saves space) into a 110 volt outlet with GFCI protection mounted at the port side corner of the setee back rest. The fiberglass base of the hull mounted shelving unit is the perfect place to mount the outlet & junction box, & the wiring can be run behind the seat back rests, then behind the engine, & under the cabin sole, & up to your 110 power breaker panel at the nav. station. If you look at my page, you can see interior photos of our C 30 cabin. For the once & a while that we are overnighting on the hook & not at a marina, we use an inverter connected to the battery bank to power the TV which works great to keep our kids entertained, while we have a drink & watch the sunset in the cockpit. Makes me pine for springtime to come! It's updates like these that while unnecessary, keep our older boats up to date with the new yachts that are out there. Plus I think that if you eventually sell, the few hundred dollar investment really pays off by making your boat worth more & more attractive to prospective buyers, who lets face it want gadgets & technology. Cheers.

Thank you.

Your set up is one of the options we are looking at. The quality of these flat screen television's with built in DVD player are pretty good. When not plugged into the shore power an inverter is also one of our options. Add a few small external speakers and your in business
