Considering installing my new 3 inch solar vent in the middle of my hatch cover as I don't have anywhere else to put it. Hatch seems to be made of plexiglass. Any suggestions as to how to cut the hole?
Thanks. I think I will give it a try but how did you make the openings?I have 2 in my Lewmar Hatches on my H-36 and no
problems at all and had 1 on my 2001 Hunter 290 vee berth hatch.

Hello Sunday Sailor,Thanks. I think I will give it a try but how did you make the openings?
Thing is, that the fan is much like cooling fans on computers and I have had a few of those running for years. Surprising to find that some companies make them with cheap fans when they charge so much for the unit (unless they are made in China....)Agree with Tommays on it being useless. I was dismayed to see one on my boat when pushased last spring. Now the bearings are failing in the motor and hollering. I have to keep a heavy pvc 8"" pipe cap over it to keep it turned off. Plan on removing it, (round), installing a deck plate or access plate of some kind and drilling through that instead of the cabin top whenever i get around to running new antenna cable up the mast.
Tried this on an older acrylic hatch with a slow moving large hole drill bit in a drill press,it broke in about 10 pieces.Considering installing my new 3 inch solar vent in the middle of my hatch cover as I don't have anywhere else to put it.
