Installing a radio

Hey folks. I plan to install a radio/cd player in my Catalina 30 soon.

I plan to install it so that it is on the chart table, on the top, so it would essentially slide down into the hole and you would only see the faceplate sticking out of the table. I plan to set it towards the rear of the table as well.

For the wiring.

Can someone explain the basics of wiring up the power leads? I just want to be sure not to do anything wrong.

The easiest reference I can provide

for stereo system wiring is from Crutchfield (obvious website). I bought my new stereo "rig" from them, and they have very good wiring diagrams and explanations, including some videos, too.
