I have to install new hand rails on my oday 23 The new ones that i have are straight/ What is the best way to bend them when installing them without breaking. clif

This is not hard to do...

Clif, Just finished that task on my O-23 last weekend. The handrails will make the bend necessary to mount. It is essential however, to dry fit the rails and insure that the screws align properly before using the bedding compound. The rails have enough flexibility - although you must exert enough pressure to bend them into place. Definitely a two person job. Start from the aft end and move forward.

what is bedding compound? No one has mentioned this one. clif How did you counter sink the holes..

Can you tell me exactly how you did it! Did you drill the first one and loosely snug it then move to the next one. clif

not hard at all

I refinished my existing handrails a few months back. I did not have any help, and that is the secret. While one person holds the handrail in position, another goes below to tighten the nut in the cabin. Then plug the holes, sand and finish. Of course use some sealant between the wood and the deck.
