When its just the two of racing its easier to fly asyms, so I'd been looking at bowsprits for the First 260. Besides adding some useful projection, the pole helps keep the tack clear of the bow area, as well as allowing inside gybes.

After looking at homebrew, Selden, and others, I settled on the 70mm Sparcraft unit. It is VERY well designed. A very nice feature is it can be quickly remove or retracted, and if removed only leaves two small flush deck fittings.

Anyone else add a sprit?

Thx Claude!

Seadaddler, that Selden top-down furler would be a great add for a code 0/1 style sail. I would be interested in how that goes.

Boat Show

I saw the Selden Sprite and Selden GX spinnaker furling at the Miami boat show this past Feb on 3 or 4 Catalina's and saw a smaller model system inside the Selden booth.
I orded it a week or 2 after the show with the help of Selden and the Catalina Store people who were selling it on discount boat show price, the Sprite came with in a week or two but the GX furling was so new I had to wait for release and it came this past week and working on installing it but the weather has been very wet lately and my Grand kids coming down to visit with us and all the other crazy things going on may delay things.
I am leaving for NY and my trip out west with our motoring home around July 5 or 6 and hoping to try it out before leaving.
