Installation of Genset on Cat 30

I am serioulsy considering installing a genset in the port lazzarette and air conditioning under the vee berth of our 1979 Catalina 30, as the "Boss" cannot tolerate the summertime heat down here in South Florida. Is there anyone out there who has had any experience with the genset aspect of such an installation? If so, would love to hear from you!

Honda Portable Genset

I installed a 12000 BTU AC/Heat last winter on my C30. It's great. -- a little noisier than I thought it would be -- but kind of a white noise. It takes forever to cool the boat in the heat of the day -- but at night knocks the temp right down.I have thought about a Honda made portable Genset. It puts out enough power for my A/C and supposedly makes only a 70 DB noise. It's a suitcase sized unit that I would store in the lazarette and put on the fordeck while in use. I haven't gotten past the idea stage except that the unit retails for under $1000.00
