Install City Water inlet

I purchased a flush mount water inlet with regulator, as I spend a fair amount of time at the dock. Now as I look at optional locations, the one that would be most convenient would actually be on the hull, just below the toe rail, which concerns me. Does anyone have any specific or general suggestions for placement? Thanks. Keith

Consider leaks

To share some experience - I was reading in bed one night when the light in the shower suddenly went on. "PFM at its finest!" I thought to myself. Finally traced the problem to the fact that the shore water connection was located above the light and had developed a small leak where the hose connects to the fixture on the inside. The dripping water had corroded the light's internal switch, causing it to short. This also explained the elevated frequency of bilge pump cycles. Keep this possibility in mind when choosing a location. Consider where dripping water would go and what could be damaged.

Cockpit locker

Our 2003 hunter has this mounted through the port cockpit locker. It has no drain holes into the locker below, so if it fails at the connection it will just flood this locker. Ours failed last season and it did not harm much in the locker. I think the sun heated up the hose and created a pressure break. The dock hose bib was turned off which probably was worse because this pressure had no where to go. I will have a y divertor at the dock station this season so I can depressure the hose when not in use.
