install chartplotter on Irwin Citation 30

I have a 1982 Irwin Citation 30 and am planning to install a Raymarine C-70 chartplotter on my wheel pedestal and was wondering if anyone has had experience with this. Do I need a pod and if so what kind (best deals, etc.) Is the stainless steel tube loop on top of the pedestal large enough for this or do I need to get creative?
