Has anyone installed a power inlet (30 amp) in the bow of their boat, such as in the anchor locker. I thought it would be great for keeping the power cord off the deck but am reluctant to cut the hole as there's hardly any space between the anchor locker wall and the interior wall. I'd appreciate anyone's ideas. Thanks, Mike

I haven't done this,

However, if you mount the receptical high on the stern side of the locker, near the port side, there must be some trim available to hide it. I would buy the receptical, and determine the space you will need.

How'd you do it????

I have the exact receptacle Fred, a Marinco 301El-8, and it calls for four #8 screws. Do you remember what you did to make the screws hold as it appears to be just a thin fiberglass wall. I thought of nuts and bolts but can't get behind the fiberglass to secure the nuts. Thankyou very much, I knew it could be done, Mike

Mike, it's been 18 years or so.

I think the retaining screws are just sheet-metal screws into the thin fiberglass. I can go look but it could be a few days. I'm sure that I didn't use nuts and bolts. Masochistic! The cable internally is the same stuff as from the rear inlet. Goes to the same place too. A cautionary note; When one inlet is connected (hot) the prongs under the other inlet are also hot. I never figured out a way to avoid that, nor did I HAVE TO avoid it. No small kids aboard. These boats can vary slightly in the amount of room behind such a fitting. You can use the area toward the bow if need-be. (where the inspection cover is located)

Thankyou Fred....

I won't be going to the boat until the middle of next week at the earliest so if you think of it when you're on your boat check to see if it is sheet metal srews. If so I'm in business, been wanting to do this for a long time. Also the instructions on the power inlet said to use a 2 7/8 hole saw, do you rememberr if that's what you did??, Thanks again, Mike

Thanks for the idea of the anchor locker. We have a h23 and I have been trying to decide where to install the connection and had not thought of putting it there. I think it will protrude into the v-berth but I'll just make a teak cover. Anything else I should be aware of? Thanks, Rob Morton
