Just purchased two 75 watt solar panels to add to my 1979 33 footer. Does anyone have suggestions for mounting these? Should I put them over top of the bimini, over the davits or somewhere else. And, how would you go about fastening them?

Davit mount

I sail an "85 H37C and mounted my pair of 75 panels on my davits. I did fabricate my own mounts but I think you can purchase tublar mounting kits from Jack Rabbit Marine. A bimini mount might allow too much wear and tear on the fabric. The down side of the davit mount is that they stick out so far aft. This year I am making a tublar "Radar Arch" to mount the panels. They are being fabricated and have no pictures yet available. As a start, mount them on the davits.

I have solar panels mounted on davits and it works out well. They are somewhat adjustable and out of the way. Fabricated some simple aluminum mounts.

Panels

We have 2 75 watt panels up int eh radar arch that we had fabricated...They are mounted with some mounts I made from some plastic stock I got from Mc Masters...I have not bothered to make the mounts capabile of "following" the sun...just flat, and we usually have around 3 amps from them, and our batteries are suually up..
