It is not that far from Dallas to San Antonio. Take yourself a Sat. or Sun. and drive down. Should be nice this time of year, and the Texas Bluebonnets should be in bloom. Pretty easy to do in one day.

ahhhhh....

I am trying to help the guy, Ron... read my previous posts. And I'm laughing out loud that you would suggest I wanted to buy the boat out from under the guy. heh, heh. Seriously though.... if you've read any of my posts over that past eleven years you'll understand that I love to help people with sailing issues...

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

ah, you're so right Joe, I sorta fell in love with ya during our music thread recently...... ;)

It is funny and a little sad how we all misunderstand each other based on word choice and our individual perspectives.... I have been caught here a couple times.. thinking I am asking/complaining about one thing only to have my intented query taken 180 degrees the other way.
I guess this is how wars are started .......

If anyone wants a boat checked out in Shelter Island in SD or Dana Point just let me know, I'd be more than happy to give my 2 cents...

Please think about this for a minute. A boat, any boat, is a considerable investment. If you send someone else and it really is a bargain or just really worth owning, it may not be there when you go to look at it for yourself. The only person you should trust to look it over is someone that is knowledgable and really into boats. See the problem yet?
I am changing this thread as it seems it was not quite what I was looking for.

After getting advice from some nice boat owners in another thread here, I thought to myself, how nice.. so I created this thread to ask if someone would be willing to check out a boat before making a trip just to make sure it was not a waste of time.

This thread is however has turned into a discussion on whether this is a good idea and whether I should go look myself as some people don't think it is a far drive. And you are right, it is not all that far (although this is relative).

I think this is great discussion on whether it is a good idea or not to ask someone you don't know to take a look. It appears that there are many people who disagree on this subject so it should keep going.

For those of you who think I should go look myself, I will.. Not as easy as all that but that is another story.

No hard feelings to anyone on my part. I respect all of your opinions or I would not be here.

For those of you who have not read the initial post, I left it intact below.

I am have a found a boat in the San Antonio, TX area that I am looking to buy. I live in Dallas which is bit far to go and look at a boat to decide to buy.

Is there anyone that would be willing to look at this boat for me and give me an evaluation on it?

If so please pm me and I will get you the details.

Thanks in advance.

I don't disagree with you sailhunter1945.

I actually agree with what you are saying. And there are many people here that agree with you. There are some who don't necessarily see it that way.

That is actually how we got this thread. Through suggestions of people in this forum. As I had said. I was apprehensive about asking. For many reasons. I did try by asking and I don't feel bad about it thus far.

In my case though, there are no takers. So at the advice of people in this thread and lack of offers, I will be going to look on my own.

Still an interesting subject to me though.

Well, Its a shame noone from SA popped on and said sure... I go to Texoma from a midpoint between Dallas anbd Houston dang near every weekend to see my boat. Its a drive but i love cedar mills marina and always have. If it had been on my way, Id have definitely got the info from you and gave my personal opinion.

I know I pass a Lot of sailing lakes to get to Texoma, but its so awesome you should at least check it out one weekend if youre getting a trailerable.
