The plasticizer on the hull liner has misgrated and the fabric got hard and split. I have removed what I could, but the foam insulation behind the fabric is on there really tight. Anyone have had the problelm and found a s good method of removing the foam without damaging the hull fibreglass? Thanks

What I Did
Hi, I replaced the hull liner on my 27' 3 years ago. What worked the best was to pull off the fabric and then brush off the foam / adhesive using a hand held stiff bristle brush. I tried sanding, scraping wit little progress in 1 day. The bristle brush remove all the rest (3/4) in less than 1 hour. Suggest you cover everything with plastic and tape the plastic to the hull liner. Have a shop vac ready and vac up frequently. I used a Berber rug with water based rug adhesive. Found it was a waste of time to make forms to press the rug into place while the adhesive set. The next day I could hand press any places that were not in firm contact. Bought the rug and adhesive at Home Depot. Looks great - had new cushion made the year before, redid the teak - looks better than new. Hope this helps. I did the exact same thing and it worked out very well for us.I used an indoor /outdoor carpet that was light in color.Made the inside seem bigger and brighter.Using the water based adhesive made working in a small area bearable.

Liner foam removal
My O'Day 26 was abandoned for ten years and the cabin was full of mold from leaks when I bought it last fall. I scraped, ripped and cursed the fabric and foam off, then used 60 grit on a random orbit sander to get down to the glass. No damage to the glass was found after this process. I replaced the bulkheads and epoxied them to the hull. Where I bonded the matting/bulkhead to the hull I did a hard sanding to get a clean contact point.
