I'm in the process of replaceing all of the hull liner on my 25. Peeling it off and going at the remaining foam backing with an orbital sander. Then I'll reglue some new hull liner. It sure is a messy job. Maybe if you just have a few small areas you can inject some adhesive through the carpet with a fine gauge needle and hypodermic syringe (from a drugstore) to reglue the sagging places.

I have the same problem on my 78' O'Day 25, and was wondering where to begin. The fabric appears to be sandwiched between the hull and top pieces. Is this also a problem, or should I just cut it with a razor? The fabric looks like it was put in before the deck/top was laid on the hull. The fabric now has mold due to water leaks from the rub strip ( being also fixed ). What type of fabric do people recommend? Thanks. Scott

my carpet liner is gone...

I have a new O'28 (to me ) and the biggest interior problem was that the hull liner carpet was falling to pieces due to water damage. I have pulled out the cruddy carpet and after I sand down the old glue, leftover foam, etc. I am going to put a wood veneer on. I was thinking about lapstrake or tongue and groove wood strips, but I found a less expensive alternative in wood veneer that I can contact cement to the hull. I found it at www.oakwoodveneer.com and I think that's what I'm going to use. I can get teak veneer to match the rest of the teak inside the cabin.

I used a stiff bristle brush

When I removed the foam backed carpet, I found a stiff bristle brush removed the foam quickly. Had the shop vac right there. I put a full plastic liner down first. This was after I tried to sand off the stuff - the sandpaper would load up instantly. Hope this helps, Good Luck Bob
