I've watched that first video four times now, can't...stop, must...stop... before that song makes my ears bleed, it will be stuck in my head for days now.
Thanks for sharing the links Russ & Skipper, I can't get enough of that stuff.
I thought my sailing weekend was exciting, but now it seems like it was really tame after watching those videos.

But it did get interesting when about a dozen J70's, 80's 105's & 109's in the "J Fest" race came up the busy channel with their a-sails up.

Unfortunately CL's video must watched on Youtube and not on this page. Oh well, it is all good.

So is the big rock the mark? And if so, I guess doing a penalty turn after hitting the mark is rather moot.

Its the Rolex Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, held at Porto Cervo, Sardinia. Its an EPIC sailing location. Yes, hitting the bricks is slow.

But even the Volvo guys can do it in bright sunlight.

A couple more from my favorites folder:

I would to see boats like these sailing in the Gulf off Galveston.

Well, to be fair Team Vestas ran it up on Carajos reef in the middle of the night! Hard to believe they were able to return to the race.

Excellent Bill

As a first year sailer, I see I've missed a lot over the past 65 years :( . I'm especially in awe of the big TRI 60s . can't get enough of seeing those at play.
keep em comin' . :)

Just to show that adrenalin isn't my only drug. besides, there are cooler, rainier days ahead so here's something to wile away some time.
the largest "traditional" sailing ship, if you don't count the Russian White Pearl (I don't).
