It's one more thing to connect and disconnect to go sailing. I'm afraid I would be less likely to leave the slip with too much comfort. I say fill the tanks, use them up and keep the water fresh.

I have first hand experience with three boats sinking as a result of being connected to shoreside water supplies. One the owner was only gone for a few hours while shopping and two where the owners normally shut off the water at the dock when they left the boat but forgot. In all three cases something failed in the water lines and the pumps were eventually overwhelmed. In 20 years of living aboard, we never leave use direct connection to the shoreside water supply.
