My wife came up with a really very clever and very cost effective solution to the annoying problem of bugs annoying you in the cockpit at anchor. She went and found a bug net thing at the local hardware ( Home Depot/Lowes equivalent). Only cost her $8 and although it is intended to go over one of those gazebo type tent things, as you can see from the pictures it works really well by just pulling it over the cockpit and letting it just hand there. We use clothes pegs to secure the opening because the zipper cant be used due to the boom cleat on the traveler. I think this is a really cool, very simple , low cost solution and it only takes us a few minutes to set it up!

My wife did something similar on our H30, she cut and sewed the screening to fit over the hatch and then added a long cloth tube to the bottom filled with BBs, keeps the screen down and bugs out, what would we do without these ladys?????

Love the idea Eianm. I have looked online at both home depot and lowes, nothing like this under $80. Do you recall exactly what is was called and where she got it....

My wife made a net by sewing a weighted hem around two halves which could be joined together by a zipper ( originally we did it with velcro). Fits over the bimini, dodger and can enclose the entire cockpit and compangnionway. Allows us to hang out trhough the sundown hours into the eveing without being eaten alive and we dont have to put our companionway hatch in anymore.

Cost was less than $75 and simple to make
