Does anyone have any images of the mounting of an inner forestay chain plate to a H42 please? Most interested to see at deck level and mounting location below decks please/

Replied to your private message, then thought some more about it. Wrote an article several years ago when we were giving it some serious thought, here: https://hunter.sailboatowners.com/mods.php?task=article&mid=45&aid=6152&mn=42

In order to make it work a slot for the staysail bracket needs to be cut in the deck right at the forward side of bulkhead behind the anchor locker. Hopefully, some one has done this and will come forward with more details. Never purchased the bracket, nor been any further than just thinking about it.

Too many other salient options with the P42 for off shore cruising. Rather than the staysail expense, perhaps better to modify the main with two more reef points plus a hanked on storm jib over the genoa furler.

thanks Terry= got the the extra main reef points in my new sail last year. Have already made the fittings to Hunters drawings and have the halyard ready so just have to buy the storm sail. But yes- i really want to see pics before I start cutting and drilling!

Did you ever get a chainplate added.
My h410 already has the spot for it, But it looks like Seatek here in CA will just need to somehow make one.
Would like to see what it looks like under deck.

Here is one for a 40.5. Not sure how relevant it is for a 410.

Close, my spot doesn't seem as wide.
Thanks for the response! Do you think the backing plate is about the same size behind it and are those the only bolts holding it?

Yes, as far as I can tell, the screws go into an embedded aluminum plate as the rest of the gear is attached like the traveler, etc. In other words, the backing plate is actually an embedded piece in the FRP. In other words, no piece on the other side since it's embedded. Hope that makes sense. I would imagine the plate was there on all the constructions to add the rig as a dealer-installed accessory. But, I don't know enough to confirm that. You could check with the Hunter guys for a few dollars on this site.
