Injection pump problem?

The 2GMF on my 1985 H31 died on me. I have to admit that a while before that I have experienced low RPM at max throttle (~2300) with load (underway).
After some troubleshooting I discovered that one of the injectors does not get any fuel at all. This was traced back to the output of the fuel injection pump: one output pushes fuel while the other is dry.
Any idea/suggestion before I dismantle the fuel injection pump?
Thanks
Rafi

first make sure the filters are clean. Next check all connections especially the ones between the tank and the fuel pump on the engine.. Next, thoroughly bleed the fuel system .. after bleeding to the HP pump, slightly crack the fuel supply line to each injector and bleed with the finger lever on the LP pump until the stream is clear. best to tighten the connector while some diesel is being pressured out of it. Do both injectors.. If you've already done that, the high pressure pump is the next place to look. if you aren't familiar with diesel HP pumps, get a mechanic who is to work with it.. Good Luck and I hope the diesel starts flowing when you bleed it!

Along with everything that Kloudie1 wrote, also check the fuel pick up at the tank. My filters were pretty clean but the pick up was clogged and I had trouble starting, running on one cylinder etc. Good luck.

One more suggestion, check that the engine stop lever is fully in the run position.

Thank U all for your replies. A quick update: the pump was taken out to the shop who rebuilt it. The mechanic said there was nothing broken etc., just normal wear (it has been in use by me for 15 years). Replaced the filters and the engine is back to life.
