Hello, I currently own a Tanzer 22 but looking for a step up. I'm looking for a boat review or any information about the history and performance of the Erickson 27 sailboat. If possible advise any links to websites also appreciated. Thanks, Rob

Go to EricsonYachts.org and search E27 and you will find more than you want to know.

The 29

I don't have the 27 but I do have a 1971 29. If they share any similarities then I would recommend it, so far a big fan of Ericson. Very solidly built, sails very well and seems fast for its size. I love my Ericson! Check out the attached link, it is the Boat Check section of SailNet where owners have posted reviews of the E27.

E27 review

I had an E27 for serveral years, and it's a great boat. Solid, roomy, reasonably fast and a great bargain in today's market. The deck is balsa core which is light and strong as long as the water is kept on the outside, so check for soft spots and leaks around fittings. Also check the chainplates for leaks and any problems with bulkheads from water. That's just pretty basic with any older boat. It won't point as high as some of the newer boats, but in heavy wind you'll love it. With good sails and a 150 genoa, you'll pass a lot more boats than pass you. At a broad reach those newer Hunters will think you must have you engine on to be walking away from them so fast.
