information on 1981 36.5 pros and cons

We are interested in buying a 1981 pearson 36.5 but we have heard that this could also be a buccineer (not listed anywhere on the boat) which does not sail very good. Can anyone give me more information.

You're lookimg for Pearson 365 not 36.5 by the way. It's 36ft 5in LOD. I've owned an '80 modelfor 15 yrs. look for ID plate on bridgedeck at bottom hatchway. Should state Pearson, Portsmouth RI, and have sail number stamped in. As reference my '80 is sail number 380 and Pearsom couldn't have made more than 10 the next year.Should also appear on mainsail if original or copied if replacement. Ultimately, for any boat check Hull ID (HIN) at stbd upper edge of transom. Should start with "PEA" for Pearson. The 365 is a great cruiser, but no racer.
