A friend had a problem with his dingy, and I offered to help (for free BEER!).

anyway, take a look a tell me what you think. (rotted wood transom leaks bad)

after digging the wood out, and cutting a template/transom, what's the next step?

can the rubber seals be cleaned up and re-glued? will 5200 work?

or does the 'rubber corner seals need to be remove, and how do you do that?

at this point, its a spare, as the owner purchased a new one.

That looks like the 3M bathtub to wall seal that comes in a roll with a release paper on the sticky side. Somewhat wider but of the same appearance. It sticks like a brother and is a pain to clean the old adhesive off.

That looks exactly like the construction of my Dink. It is a Zodiac Cadet 3.10 re-branded West Marine. If it is the same, the transom flanges are made of PVC material, Zodiac has gluing instructions.

The solution is after the old glue is removed use West System G-Flex. I repaired my dingy three years ago and it is still holding up. The G-Flex is easy to mix and easy to apply. Well worth it.

Acetone or MEK? I would also check all the "hinge" vinyl attached to the transom, it is vulnerable to abrasion. I'm currently doing winter maintenance on my transom - sand and paint the transom, seal the bottom hinge.
