inflatable woes

Hi all! I have an inflatable (unable to determine the brand or model as it has no markings ). My problem is that I have been unable to find replacement oarlocks for it. I know that sounds ridiculous but this boat requires oarlocks that screw onto a recessed molded housing ( a female fitting ). It looks to be about 1/2 inch. All I can find for sale are the drop in type. Not even inflatable dealers in the area can help. Can you? Talk about stuck without a paddle

since you are in Bangor, Maine, I wonder if possibly someone down at Bean's could help you.And if they cannot, what the heck, while you're there you can pick up one of those swell french coffee presses they sell. I did.

I would check with Defender

Defender in Connecticut sells or has sold just about every inflatable ever made. I would call them or email them a picture. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had what you need in some dusty bin out in the warehouse.Click the link for their site.

Oar Locks

Could you have standard 'drop-in' oar locks machined down to fit inside the threads in the recessed molded housing? 1/2" female thread = approx 3/8" clear?Gord

No manufacturer's nameplate?

If you plan on registering that dinghy in ME (or anywhere else) you'll have a problem unless the serial number is visible on the nameplate. If there is a serial#, it has a manufacturer's code, an model code, and the year of manufacture in the number.Try comparing it's physical appearance to the types in various catalogs and websites. To might see characteristics of a particular manufacturer, and can then contact those folks for help. Quickly off the top of my head, I can think of these manufacturers: Achilles, Avon, & Zodiac (West Marine store brand is generally from Zodiac). I'm sure there are others.--RonD

Oar lock

It may be a caribe (Miami). I had a 9ft. caribe and after much effort figured out how to remove the oarlock. It has a shoulder on the bottom of the shaft that has a flat to allow removal when the flat and the interlock flat in the hole lined up with each other. The shank was only about 1" or so long. Try West Marine.I had one of their inflatables with screw in oar locks. That may be what you have. I believe theirs are manufactured by Either Avon or Zodiac. Good luck.

or Sevylor?

Could be a Sevylor Super Caravelle, I have one and the oarlocks screw in part way, then they rotate freely so you can row. Got it at Sports Authority, but the oarlocks are part of the boat, not the oars (sold separately).
