We have an Achilles Hypalon Dinghy. It has a slow leak. We pressurized the chamber and soap bubble tested it. We overinflated it and tested. We can not find a leak. Any suggetions?Mike D
Mike,Check the black rubber o-ring on the valve body. Check for nicks, cuts, or dirt. Clean the ring and the surfaces it seats on. Just a small leak will cause the boat to go soft in a remarkably short time.If this does not fix the problem then replace the valves.
Inflate it and wiggle the fittings and valves while you apply the soap bubbles. You'll find it.Or, I've had success placing my ear against a raft in quiet surroundings and have actually been able to hear the escaping air. You can move about to locate the general area. Good Luck!Geof
Mike, I had a slow leak in my Achilles and couldn't find it. I checked and replaced all the o-rings and valves and it still leaked, so I used the liquid leak fix stuff. Its expensive but it worked.
It always leaked. By the time I got rid of it on eBay it looked like a caricature of a patched inner tube. Oyster shells, fish hooks, boarding ladders.... I spent hundreds for professional fixing, which failed. Finally bought a hard dinghy.
