Am looking to buy my first inflatable dingy to be used on my Pearson 30. I thinking 8 to 10 feet but am at a loss as to which sole to go with, slats or high pressure tubes?? Thanks

One Opinion

I would lean to an inflatable floor. I have a small inflatable with a slatted wood floor. It is not as stable and is heavy. At the risk of getting too much information, check the archives for threads on this subject. There is a wealth of information. I do think plywood floor (solid) is fine IF you intend to leave the boat inflated most of the time, but you will find putting it together and knocking it down to be a real PITA. Personally, I use a hard dink for most use, towing it all over. Rick D.

I use a roll up with slatted floor so I can store

it in the aft compartment between use, I would suggest that an inflatable sole probably performs much better. Most of the inflatable floors also have a sort of keel, without one a dink turns like a Cadillac on black ice. I was just a little too cheap to get an inflatable floor 'cause they were kinda new and pricey last time I replaced the dink.

It's how YOU intend to use the boat Frank

and we just don't know that, do we? Really, read the West Marine Advisor on dinghy selection.
