We have a Achilles hyperlon inflatable dinghy with one pontoon that empties its air overnight. Did the usual search with soapy water, but found no apparent leaks. Any ideas how to find or repair?

Inflatable repair

West Marine/Boat US sells a sealant that you pour inside the inflatable and then slosh around until the inside of the tube is coated. We have used this stuff and it really worked to seal up tiny leaks that were impossible to find with soapy water test. It's expensive, but it worked for us.

Two suggestions-

You don't say what KIND of soapy water you used, but I have found that using kids soap blowing bubble solution (that you buy) is much superior to mixing your own solution from dishsoap. Second, have you examined the valve assembly? Seems obvious, but... A serious leak that you describe should be readily apparent with a soap solution. No experience with the WM sealer. Always found the leak and used a patch.

lost air

i bought a zodiac from west marine.took it out for two weeks and it leaked .i did the soapy ,jumped on it listened to it,i tryed everthing.took it back to west and they gave me one out of the box again.the new one leaked,so i called zodic ,they told me to inflate it with the foot pump as hard as i can as the foot pump can not over inflate.have not had a leak for 3 years.

Valve Seal

Ken, Just about any time my zodiac leaks quickly, I find the culprit is the inner valve not seating properly. That would be my first place to look. Hope this helps. Gary Wyngarden S/V Shibumi H335
